Wordy Wednesday: PANIC!
I was happily anticipating my October novel debut until a few Wednesdays ago when Georgia McBride's amazing YA LIT CHAT featured a conversation about best times to submit to agents, schedule school visits, Tweet news and then...argh...best time to debut a novel. How did I miss the giant ongoing conversation to the effect that debuting in fall is dangerous because the field is so packed and lots of high-profile authors put out books in fall? And, this October is chock-full of amazing books I WANT TO READ MYSELF. So, what am I doing? Oh, yeah. Panicking.

Don't hit panic just yet, you have an advantage.
no vampire in your book!
:-)
=different to EVERYTHING else. ( not that they are bad but there is lots there) i haven't even HEARD of another book like yours coming out.
*breathe*
Best of luck! Happy crusading, i believe we are in the same crusader group :-)

Can you control when your book comes out? I thought that was up to the publisher? Good luck! :) Looks like we are in the same crusader group - nice to meet you!
Thanks for the reassurance, Constance :)
Margo, you can't control your release date. Mine was actually moved up from Spring 2012 to Fall 2011. In a way it's good b/c fall is a nice, showy list but, as a debut author, it's hard to pull out from the pack.
Heading over to the Crusader page to check out the groups this morning!
Hey! We're in the same crusade group.
I know the end to one of my new favorite trilogies is coming out in September, so it would seem that popular books come out in the fall. Don't fret, though. I'm sure that they'll take one look at your amazing skills and they'll be all 'hmm... the name sounds familiar, I better read this because it looks very insanely amazing'.
So don't be sad. Looking forward to reading your blog in the future!
Don't panic. Your book rocks. :)
I'm a member of your Crusade group, stopping by to say hi!
First of all, congratulations on the upcoming publication of your first novel! That's so exciting!
Second, try not to panic too much. There is always room for upcoming authors, especially in the YA world! I'll add your book to my to-read list - I'm participating in the Debut Author Challenge as well!
See you around!

There is always something to worry about, isn't there? :) First, get an agent. Second, sell the book. Third, will people buy it? Fourth, will they like it? It's probably overwhelming at times, I'm sure.
You'll do great! You've got all of us bloggers to spread the work about your book. :)
Hi Erin & CherylAnne! Thanks for the encouragement and support!
Don't worry. I don't think readers think too much that when they're in stores. They just buy what sounds interesting, and your book does! I love contemporary YA and dance so I'd love to read this when it's out! :)
Thanks, Ghenet! Appreciate the support and thrilled you're looking forward to reading AUDITION.
Congratulations on the upcoming publication of your book. That's very exciting. Fingers crossed the release date will positively affect sales and you'll be a best selling author before you know it.
By the way, I'm in your YA crusade group and am now following you through RSS. Looking forward to getting to know you!
Hi Cally! Thanks for stopping by. I look forward to following your writing progress. Thanks for "fingers crossed" and happy crusading!
I'm sure that they'll take one look at your amazing skills. There is always room for upcoming authors. And you will be some of them.
